Use, abuse of Essential oils, particularly Wormwood and Wintergreen

I LOVE EOs. I seriously do. However I am by nature a cautious user. I make sure my concoctions have the lower recommended amount of eos in them. And I'm willing to try most anything. HOWEVER, I am also aware that there are a lot of whackos out there that love MLMs such as Young Living. do Terra and Young Living are mlm companies. These companies are interested in their bottom line. They hand out erroneous information or no information. Many of these people are not educated at all in the use of essential oils. They're given a pamphlet or two and then are offered weekend courses. Maybe the sales folk take the course, maybe not. Yet they are off selling and using EO's on folk who don't know better. These people are not alone. People like me, I started out with a bottle, then another and yet another. Making up concoctions for my family, making mistakes including burning a tiny little girl once. I still shudder and cringe. It was horrible. and that was AFTER I had gotten some REAL education. Unlike most of the folk who got into this wonderful world of magic bottles, I actually went to college and got a diploma. I was able to learn from people who were before me. The opportunities now are greater than the used to be for education in the use and purpose of essential oils. Still, too many people don't take advantage of it. They buy books that contain mis-information, they listen to idiots like Gary Young who changes his story of his humble beginnings every five minutes and who hasn't had the education he claims and has been connected to the near death at his so Called Clinic in Utah (which is why he ran off to Ecuador) and they kiss his feet and bless his existence and call him a great teacher. But that's another rant for another time. My real purpose is to point out the huge lack of information out there. The ignorance and the stupidity that abounds. So what Kathleen? Who cares? What's your point? Here's my point. Knowing what kind of idiots out there and the magnitude of them, why would anyone sell them wintergreen and WORMWOOD??? Okay, I get that some folk are responsible and knowledgeable. I get some people use it for their magical rites... BUT. IF I were a purveyor of EOs the only way I could feel that I was covering my butt enough was to require some proof of knowledge of the purpose of the oils and the dangers that go hand in hand with them and who has the time or the resources for that? So why sell them? Especially when you know that the majority of Wintergreen is fake. Especially when you know that Wormwood is SO potent and is called a narcotic for good reason. Do these two oils really sell enough to make it worth the selling of them. And I'm not attacking any particular person or company. I know people who sell these oils that I respect profoundly. However I have to wonder if they're comfortable selling to people they know nothing who may be buying wintergreen to treat granny's arthritis and wormwood for her tummy aches. The thought of some YL nut case using them in Rain Drop therapy is absolutely TERRIFYING! Sigh. I realize that any oil has the potential for abuse and misuse, but these two in particular bother me thinking about them in the hands of the ignorant, the stupid and the deliberately stupid. End of rant. For now!
